Today was an early visit to my heart doctor. Blood work, a 2-D Echo and then am now wearing a 24 hr. heart monitor... Shopped a little and then home to take a nap and wait for my best friend, Kevin, to come over. We went to dinner with fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy and peas. We each had butterscotch pie for dessert (actually, we brought it home).
Been working on gathering photos to take to our family reunion this upcoming Saturday. Our family celebrates the 200th anniversary of the Zolman family settling in Fredericktown, Ohio.
Thought about the veggie pizza and thought that a breakfast pizza would be fitting!
Breakfast Pizza
Oven to 375* and bake 11 - 13 minutes.
Crust: spray veggie oil on cookie sheet.
2 - tubes of crescent rolls
Spread and seal seams and press to fit pan. Bake.
Gravy: Make your own or purchase a 2 - 3 cup package of white pepper gravy.
From scratch: Melt 5 Tablespoons of butter, then stir in 5 Tablespoons of flour and cook and stir until it turns a light golden brown color (you just made a ROUX). Stir in about 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 5 or 6 rounds of fresh pepper. Stir in slowly 1/2 cup milk and bump heat to a medium, stirring until incorporated, slowly stir in remaining milk and cook until thickened. Add about 10 more turns of fresh pepper. Pour about 1/2 over the crust and spread it to the corners.
Meat: Pre-cook your choice of meat, sausage, bacon, ham... sprinkle around over the gravy.
Eggs: Lightly scramble about 1 dozen eggs and spread over meat/gravy and pour remaining gravy around here and there. Sprinkle with 1 - 2 cups of shredded cheese (I like Colby-Jack). Return to the oven for a few minutes to melt cheese. Cut and serve. Good hot or room temp.
Items to add: green onion, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, green peppers... really any vegetable. Use any meats you want, or just eggs! Scramble, lightly fried sunny side up and placed over gravy-ed crust with cheese. You can make pizza pan rounds, cookie sheet oblongs, use biscuits and flatten really well and bake for individual ones. Be CREATIVE!.
Good night my friends. Sleep well. Say prayers for all the people affected by the tragic water damage from the rains we've had, and God Bless.
